Scope
'Series of photographs taken by Daniels during expeditions to Africa throughout the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. The photographs show a variety of sites in Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia - with a vast majority of the photographs relating to sites across Libya.', Photographs show ancient ruins, archaeological sites, excavation work, finds, landscapes, modern cities and towns, museums, people, vehicles and other aspects of the expeditions.', The photographs feature a manuscript number or film number on verso and correspond to entries in African Expedition Photograph Notebooks. Captions for the photographs can be found both in the notebooks on written on the photographs themselves. However, many of the images do not feature a caption meaning that the photographs may show sites which are not listed within the catalogue as they could not be identified by the archivist.'
Arrangement
'The images correspond with entries in the African Expedition Photograph notebooks and have been arranged to reflect this original order.', A majority of the photographs features a "Charles Daniels Number" which indicates their place in the sequence; however, those which do not feature this number have been arranged in the order they appear within the notebooks.'
