Scope
"Series pertains to the administration of the Society for Libyan Studies' Archive when it was in the custody of the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. The series also contains a small amount of material concerning the Society's Library which is held in the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.", u"During its time at the University of Newcastle, the collection was primarily curated and maintained by John Dore (archaeologist at the University of Newcastle). Many of the accession records, depositor's records and catalogues would have been created by Dore. He also prescribed the accession number system assigned to the material during this period (1990.0001, 1990.0002, 1990.0003, etc...)."
