Scope

'Correspondence between Riley and John Hayes; file contains letters which relate to a variety of issues concerning work on Cyrenaica and Libya.', Letters are present pertaining to the study of Benghazi coarse ware; sealed levels at Benghazi; the death of Awath Sadawiya; a conference held in the Auditorium di Pompei, Pompeii, 20 May - 3 June 1973; 1974 season expedition to Cyrenaica, particularly Sidi Khrebish and Caesarea; report on amphora, including Early Roman Amphora; paper by Hayes entitled "University of Michigan Excavations of Carthage, 1975: A System for Quick Publication of Pottery Finds" read to the Archaeological Institute of America annual meetings in Washington D.C., 30 December 1975; a Roman kiln site at Keratokambos, south coast of Crete; a seminar on Italian Archaeology held at Lancaster in early 1977 and a dig at Carthage and subsequent drawings of finds.'
