Scope

'Relates to Society of Libyan studies excavations aimed at defining the extent of the medieval Islamic occupation (article published as "Excavations at Ajdabiyah: An Interim Report" in "The Society for Libyan Studies Third Annual Report 1971-72"). Includes map entitled "Islamic sites in Libya with remains prior to the Hillalian invasion of 1050", plan entitled "Sidi Khrebish, Aug 1972 - Roman and later buildings" and 4 figures from the article showing principal caravan routes of the 10th century, plan of Sidi Sahabi, the mosque at Ajdabiyah and a restored plan of the mosque of Obeid \'Allah at Mahdiyah. The figures are labelled "Whitehouse" (the article was written by David Whitehouse, and Ruth Whitehouse was also part of the expedition party).'
